Samsung Galaxy Note VS Samsung Galaxy S II

Looking for the best smart phone currently available in the market ? If you are not an apple fan boy then obviously Android is your next choice ,when it comes android, in my view currently available best smartphones are Samsung Galaxy Note and Samsung Galaxy S II ,Here am comparing the features of both phones and find which meets your needs best.

Dimensions

Samsung Galaxy Note has 146.9mm height 83mm width 9.7 mm  thickness and when it comes to Samsung Galaxy S II 125.3 height  66.1 width   and 8.5 mm thickness .

Samsung Galaxy S II  is not easy to keep in your shirt’s front pocket so don’t even think about keeping Galaxy Note in your  shirt’s front pocket,One hand operation with Galaxy Note is not easy ,in case of ease of use with one hand Samsung Galaxy S II is more convenient .

DISPLAY And SOUND

Samsung Galaxy Note VS Samsung Galaxy S II display

Both the phones comes with a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen in 16M colours which are made up of “Corning Gorilla Glass” so the display is scratch resistant ,Galaxy S II has a 4.3 inch screen with  resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.Galaxy Note has a 5.3 inch screen with resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels. Both the displays produce exactly the same amount of brightness and contrast even standout from the  iPhone’s retina display ,We loved the brightness and vivid colours both phones produces . And have good sunlight legibility.

Both the phones supports 5.1 Dolby surround sound , and comes with a 5.1 Dolby surround sound  supported headsets (In ear type). Both phones have above average volume ,Samsung Galaxy Note  has comparatively low volume among two devices

CAMERA

Samsung Galaxy S II camera lens

Both the devices come with 8 MP autofocus primary camera with LED flash and 2 MP secondary camera ,as the both devices uses the exactly the same camera module picture quality is same. Can take good pictures even in low light conditions and take sharp and crisp photos in daylight ,colours are vivid .In final words camera is just awesome. And both phones are capable of recording Full HD 1080p videos at 30 frames per second .

Hardware And Software

Galaxy S II  comes with 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9 Dual-core processor which is same as the HTC Sensation and Mali-400MP GPU just fall behind the  NVidia’s Tegra 2 GPU and it has 1 GB RAM ,optional 16GB or 32GB internal storage,

Galaxy Note  comes with 1.4 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 Dual-core  processor and Mali-400MP GPU and it has 1 GB RAM ,optional 16GB or 32GB internal storage ,Galaxy Note has little higher processor in order to handle the big resolution ,but am sure there is only slight difference in performance .

Both the phones have exactly the same set of sensors But Galaxy Note has an additional barometer sensor .And there is a  S Pen is included with  Galaxy Note  used to write notes quickly over the images or in editor with your own handwriting .

Both devices are comes with latest android version which is 2.3.5 Gingerbread, and Samsung also announced about the android 4.0 ice-cream sandwich (ICS)  update for both devices .

Connectivity Features

Both phones have the traditional smart phone connectivity features including DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot ,USB on the go (can connect USB pen-drives directly to the phone using a special data cable),TV-OUT ,Bluetooth 3.0 and an optional NFC support

User Interface

Both the phones are baked with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI ,and it has the latest version of TouchWiz that is TouchWiz 4.0,Personally i don’t like TouchWiz interface ,the stock icons are better than TouchWiz icons ,So if you are interested in boosting your phones performance and User Interface, yes i am talking about custom firmware CyanogenMod (Sorry only for galaxy s II) ,CyanogenMod is an aftermarket community based firmware distribution for several Android devices.Galaxy Note  is not yet supported by the community but am pretty sure that  they are working on it.

Battery

Battery backup ! ,yet another deal breaker, Galaxy S II  comes with a 1650 mAh  Li-Ion  battery which can give about 1 day usage or 8 to 18 hours talk time ,and i heard that Galaxy S II has poor battery backup and didn’t last for one day but the phone we have tested has no battery  backup  issues i think Samsung got fixed it .

Galaxy Note comes with a 2500 mAh Li-Ion battery which can give about 1 and half day usage or 13 to 26 hours talk time and we loved the battery backup provided by the Galaxy Note which makes it  a perfect device for travellers .

Tip: Super AMOLED display eats nearly about 50% of the battery charge ,to increase your battery backup ,put the phone in automatic brightness control mode or decrease the brightness as low as possible.

Final words

Samsung Galaxy S II  is still more comfortable in hands and easy to use with one hand operations ,so personally i recommend this phone for business persons and who don’t need to carry phone that don’t fits in their front pocket ,(Galaxy note is even harder to keep in your jeans pocket) .

I recommend Samsung Galaxy Note  for the people who travel a lot ,because it got higher capacity battery with good backup ,Huge screen makes painless reading ,watching movies ,GPS navigation and maps in big display ,or people who are looking for tablet which is portable and small.
