What is NFC ? is it faster than Bluetooth ?

NFC or Near Field Communication is a feature found in new high end mobile phones and other devices which allows you to connect  and share data with other devices just by tapping two devices together (proximity). When compared to other wireless connection methods it doesn’t need any authentication or pairing between devices  and NFC sets up faster than any other wireless connection,

NFC tapping devices

NFC only has few centimetre  range and in case of speed NFC is relatively slow  ,you can transfer a photo just by tapping two devices , you can even connect to your wireless headphones or any other NFC enabled accessories. You can  play multiplayer games with NFC.

 Feature of NFC

  • you can use NFC to initiate other high speed wireless connections like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi ,for example ; to pair with a Bluetooth device  you just need to tap two devices  ,you can save a lot of time in  searching and pairing two devices.
  • Faster way to share Business cards
  • You can use it as a credit card (Mobile-payment)
  • You can use it as ID-card
  • less connection set up time and very low power consumption
  • Multiplayer gaming
  • Very short range less than 20 centimetres

NFC Vs. Bluetooth

Bluetooth can transfer at a speed of 2.1 Mbit/s but NFC can only work at a speed of 424 kbit/s,Both devices have short-range coverage ,when Bluetooth can operate  at a ~10 meters length between two devices ,a NFC connection only works in less than 20 centimetres range, anyways NFC sets up really faster than Bluetooth .
